Cute Back To School Style: Bermuda Shorts that aren't Expensive

Back to School Clothes
For many of us school will start in less than a month. I love the first day back at school, but not for the reason you might think. It's so fun to see how people changed over the summer, who got taller, who lost weight, and my favorite, who get a new wardrobe. and summer is a great time to totally reinvent yourself and your style. Many schools have a strict dress code that can sometimes be hard to work around and still look cute.
Bottoms-
- Short Shorts: In most schools shorts aren't allowed in the dress code. Even if the shorts aren't too revealing and are tailored or fit you very nicely they're still not allowed. To be honest I think this is a not to good rule. Student shouldn't be allowed to wear booty shorts to school, that I agree with; but I think as long as you look good and you can fit into them, there shouldn't be a problem. Now schools have air conditioning and you're not outside all day so you shouldn't be so hot and uncomfortable.
- Bermuda Shorts: These shorts are all about fit because it's very easy to look sloppy in these shorts. I think the Bermuda shorts that are above the knee by an inch or two are the best, they probably look the most youthful. Also make sure you get one with a very good fit. For me the hardest part is finding something that fits in the booty and in the thighs because my hips flare out more than the size my legs fit in. It helps if you have a pocket that has a design or a button on the back flaps to help you get in little bit more volume. I wouldn't get a short like this in a loud pattern because it can end up being too much. A navy, black, or chocolate brown can look good for this cut. Beware a khaki or tan since it could end up looking like a uniform.
- Skirts: Skirts can be a tricky area. You don't want to look too formal, but you also want it to have a fit. I prefer a shorter flouncy skirt that has movement with a pattern. Typically with a patterned skirt I would either wear a solid tee or a tank top with a little cardigan. Make sure your skirt isn't too short and that it's comfortable to move around and sit down in.
- Jeans: (Sigh) jeans, the old standby. Jeans can be worn many different ways. You could roll up the cuff a little if they're long or it you just want to show a little ankle. You could also roll it up even more to make a little lower then capri length pants. The lighter the color the more casual you can look and feel. Jeans can also transition into winter so you get more bang for your buck. Another positive thing about jeans it a lot of different tops and accessories can be paired with it to dress it down or up.
Tops-
- Tee Shirts: There are two different main types of tee shirts, the graphic tees and then the plain ones. If a graphic tee is used right it can be very flattering, again it's all about the fit of it. It can be worn with jeans or shorts and sandals or for winter you can pair it with some boots. A graphic tee with a cute pattern or saying on it is great, but when it starts to lean towards not very appropriate the school is probably going to not like it. My school has guidelines for what kind of tops you can and can't wear. Also when shopping for just a plain tee, make sure the sleeve is a little loose and stops an inch or two below your arm pit. If not you have the feeling of it always riding up and then having to pull it down or adjust it. A v-neck or crew neck goes good with just jeans and a basic flat so there are a lot of different options.
- Flowy Tops:I know this might sound a little strange, but even a flowy top has a fit to it. When looking for a top like this, I like to find one with an embellishment or an embroidered something on top. I would also suggest having an elastic band at the bottom of the top to make sure it stays in place. Some tops have sleeves some tops don't, it all depends on how you feel in it and if you want to show your arms or not.
- Cover-up: School buildings can be very cold and so it's smart to wear a cover up inside. I prefer cardigans that are loose in a very comfortable fabric. You can also wear a more structured blazer that's cropped. Also I think you should consider a sweatshirt. You can put pens and pencils and other items in the front pouch that makes it easier to carry around your supplies.
Dress/Romper- If you're really looking to make a statement wear a fun romper. It's unexpected and can be worn with a varity of shoes like sandals or flat oxfords. A lot of rompers have thin strap so you'll need to wear a cover up (like a cardigan that's brings out some color) or a plain tee underneath. Same thing for the dress, jut make sure it's something casual and you don't look like you're about to take a walk down a red carpet after school.
What would you wear back to school?

I love v-neck shirts and those geometric-printed shorts are cute as well. Thanks for updating us on fall fashion! I voted this up and beautiful.

Nice ideas for kids going back to school....I think we all remember this time of year and clothes was a big part of it, unless you went to Catholic or other private school. Brings back memories.
